INSTRUCTORS


KATY SCHROEDER 
Founder / Artistic Director
A graduate of the Musical Theatre Diploma Program at The Randolph Academy in Toronto, Katy has been trained in all aspects of the performing arts. She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, solo musical theatre performance and choral technique to film and theatre acting technique. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Theatre from UBC, an Honours in Advanced R.A.D. Ballet and credits in film and theatre including The Stratford Festival of Canada. As a teacher, Katy aims to inspire students and teachers with her passion for the performing arts and strengthen one’s physical strength, theatricality, voice and self-confidence. She believes in a professional environment where fun, creativity and technique are nurtured to create a positive experience for all.


STEPHANIE CORAZZA
Hillcrest Ballet Instructor
Stephanie has had extensive training in classical ballet, pointe, modern, & jazz for over ten years throughout North America. The heart of her training was under Maureen Eastick at Pacific Dance Centre in Victoria BC. Stephanie’s passion and commitment for dance led her to many opportunities including performances in many community shows including festival work in Dance Arts Victoria, various roles in the Nutcracker, and being chosen amongst 60 other young dancers to train intensively three summers in a row at the Banff Centre for Performing Arts. Currently enrolled in a dance teacher training program, Stephanie plans to enrich her existing teaching skills & dance technique to further her career in dance teaching. She is delighted to continue her studies while joining the VPS family teaching dance to young children & adults in a nurturing and creative way.


KAYLA GARDNER
Hastings Community Centre 
Kayla has been involved in the performing arts since she was very young. She is currently studying theatre at the University of British Columbia. Her previous credits include lead roles in the musicals Back to the 80's and Anything Goes, as well as experience in stage management and choreography. She has taken up to her Grade 8 Royal Conservatory piano and won Overall Vocal Achievement at the Carillon Musical Festival two years in a row. Most recently, Kayla worked on on the magical production of Peter Pan with the Vancouver Performing Stars and can't wait to get to work with the talented VPS kids.







ANNE-MARIE LAMONDE
Thunderbird Community Centre
Anne-Marie LaMonde is an exuberant artist with a passion for teaching and learning. As an educational practitioner, her lifetime engagement in the arts has been an invitation for children, youth, and adults to experience dance, music, visual and dramatic arts as a means to reconnect mind and body. For the past fourteen years, she has instructed teacher candidates studying in the Faculty of Education at UBC and the University of Calgary methods in music, movement, and language instruction (from Kindergarten to Secondary). Her joy in working with young children and youth enables her to remain authentically connected to the practice of arts instruction; her delight in working with adults enables her to awaken mindful play and to reconnect with the “child” within. 

LAURA ROSS
Killarney Community Centre 
Laura is very excited to be joining VPS this year. She has over 8 years of teaching experience. Laura has also performed for children across the country and the US in live productions of The Backyardigans, Little Bear, Franklin the Turtle and Caillou. After receiving her training from the Canadian College of Performing Arts, she has been fortunate to work for such companies as The Vancouver Playhouse, The Chemainus Theatre Festival and KOBA Family Entertainment. Laura's number one goal as an instructor is to promote self-esteem in her students while teaching the skills of performing.

STEPHANIE BENNETT
Mount Pleasant Ballet Instructor
Stephanie has had a love for the performing arts since she was very young. She began studying classical ballet at the age of three, and extended into tap, jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary at Kirkwood Academy of Performing Arts. She studied for a year at the National Ballet School in Toronto and for two years at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Her experience has led to lead roles in the Royal City Youth Ballet’s performances of The Nutcracker, and Coppelia, and the Royal City Musical Theatre’s production of Hello Dolly. She is now pursuing acting full-time in Film and Television, as well as training in Theatre. Stephanie is very excited to join VPS as she has a strong passion for music and dance and loves working with children.
